Rei, the school's star vocalist, suffers a polyp on her vocal cords that causes her to lose her voice. Black Jack performs surgery, but Rei fails to remain silent for the required two weeks and reinjures her throat. Consequently, she is forced to be silent for three months, a period during which she becomes depressed. However, she befriends Wato, Sharaku's sister, and eventually manages to regain her voice.
