Ichinoseki, a local star gymnast, suffers from gangrene and loses an arm. Black Jack replaces the limb with a metal pincer. Ichinoseki falls into depression but is encouraged by the arm to play competitive shogi. He eventually wins the championship. The arm’s voice is revealed to be generated via transistor by his long-suffering friend Toshie.
