Mahoutsukai no Yoru

Misaki town in the closing years of the Showa era, late in the 1980s, holds a mansion locals whisper is inhabited by a witch. Aoko Aozaki takes up residence there and studies sorcery under its young occupant, the mage Alice Kuonji, since the Aozaki line watches over the land Misaki stands on and Aoko is the successor charged with guarding it. When unknown parties begin tampering with the bounded field around the town, the two look into it, destroy a puppet that attacks them, and glimpse an ordinary witness fleeing the scene. Soon after, a boy called Soujuurou Shizuki finds his way to the mansion and settles in alongside them.
