In Finchingfield, Keaton attempts to save elderly artist Douglas, who suffers from extreme myopia. Bodyguard Morris compels Douglas to forge an Edgar Degas painting for dealer Clifford Ferris, capturing Keaton and injuring his shin with a paddle. Keaton improvises a splint using Douglas’s easel. Douglas, who developed myopia as a boy due to his passion for drawing, now forges works for income after his original sketches failed to earn money. He once felt confident after forging a Vincent van Gogh piece but suffered nightmares of wandering a strange forest until dreaming of a mountain path, inspiring his Scottish Highlands sketch. Keaton creates a distraction using a charcoal-filled light bulb inside a bust, causing an explosion that injures Morris. As they flee with the sketch, Clifford shoots Douglas, miraculously restoring his eyesight before destroying the artwork. Keaton and Douglas incapacitate Clifford and escape the burning building.
