Hachimaki stays in a lunar hospital for a week after injuring his leg parachuting from a hotel fire. He meets veteran astronaut Harry Roland, who is initially in an adjacent bed but later disappears. Hachimaki also befriends a young girl named Nono, sharing stories about life on Earth. Upon release, Fee drives him to the airport, where they encounter Roland, who reveals he has leukemia before dying from decompression sickness. When Hachimaki returns to the hospital, he discovers that Nono is a twelve-year-old Lunarian, a person born on the Moon.
