In 2061, fifty years after the creation of a Network society intended to connect people at the level of consciousness, new issues like data leaks and misinformation emerged. Despite these problems, people remained dependent on the Network. A more secure system called the Meta Real Network, or "the Metal," was developed. It used virtual, protected environments known as bubble shells to store personal memories and became a part of daily life. However, individuals began to act on their instincts within the Metal, leading to a loss of self in the overwhelming flow of information and emotional pressures. Meanwhile, societal rules continued to govern their real-world behavior, creating tensions between the two realms. These tensions led to strange, unpredictable phenomena. Specialists known as cyber divers explored the Metal to investigate these anomalies. One such diver, Masamichi Haru, examines incidents that occur at the intersection of the real world and the Metal.
