Ep. 73: Kenshin defeats Kaiou's underling while Sanosuke and Lady Magdalia rescue Shouzo from a boulder.

Kenshin quickly overcomes an attacker from Kaiou’s group after being trapped in a noose. Elsewhere, Shouzo remains pinned beneath a heavy rock, requiring assistance from Sanosuke and Lady Magdalia so he can inform Shougo about the situation. Sanosuke effortlessly knocks out another of Kaiou’s subordinates, but Lady Magdalia begins hyperventilating due to her condition. Kenshin, Kaoru, Yahiko, and Misao arrive to help the pair exit the cave. Upon discovering that Lady Magdalia suffers from tuberculosis, Sanosuke rushes to locate Sir Elsten for medical treatment and to report the army’s formation. Meanwhile, Shouzo eavesdrops on Kaiou’s plans and attempts to engage him in combat but is defeated. As a final measure, Shouzo uses pipe bombs provided by Sanosuke, resulting in Kaiou’s death.
