Sanosuke falls into a cave crevice and encounters Lady Magdalia, who treats his injuries at her hillside residence. They argue regarding Shougo, during which Sanosuke admits to losing a medallion. Lady Magdalia subsequently locks him in a room. Meanwhile, Shougo conspires with his followers Kaiou and Santo to overthrow the Meiji government by inciting civil war, though they dispute the cost and methods. Lady Magdalia retrieves a gun and returns to the locked room, only to find Sanosuke missing. He continues his search for the medallion but is interrupted by Shouzo, leading to a mutual weakening combat exchange. The episode concludes with Kaiou and Santo receiving the lost medallion from Lady Magdalia.
