Kenshin visits Sir Elsten to inquire about the fate of the believers. Sir Elsten awaits a government decision, which soon arrives stating the believers must leave Japan. Grateful, Sir Elsten decides they can relocate to Holland. Meanwhile, Sanosuke gives Kaoru a letter and a package containing Lady Magdalia's medallion. Kaoru briefly visits Shougo. Sanosuke then goes to Lady Magdalia's tombstone to reminisce. An angry Shouzo appears, expressing disappointment over losing Lady Magdalia and guilt for taking Kaiou's life. Later, Shougo visits the tombstone, reads the letter Lady Magdalia wrote, and heads toward Holland.
