Ep. 13: Mitsuhiro explains Japan's destruction and Festum genocide while Hester unveils a new weapon.
Aired on October 4, 2004

Mitsuhiro Bertrand states that Japan was destroyed thirty years ago by toxins from the core, causing infertility and marking the start of the Festum genocide. At the Alvis base, gene manipulation allowed children to become immune. Hester deceptively announces a new weapon capable of defeating Festums, displaying the Fafner Mark Elf. Yoji Hino, who left the island five years ago to create weapons for the Neo UN fleet, offers Kazuki a staff position. The Grendel Type Festums invade the Moldova, prompting Kazuki to fight back. This sequence connects the historical devastation with current military developments and personal alliances as the conflict escalates against the alien threat.
