Koyo is suddenly assaulted by a Festum, prompting him to hand over the submarine holding Maya and Kyouhei before being pulled into the sea. Sakura extracts Koyo’s cockpit from his Fafner just as the island is destroyed. It becomes evident that Koyo has lost significant memories, and the other children discover his central nervous system has been assimilated. Meanwhile, Koyo’s parents suffer distress over raising a child they now consider useless, resulting in their expulsion from the island.
