Ep. 12: Mamoru and others pilot Fafners against Festum while Kazuki faces confinement and Soushi’s hidden feelings emerge.

Mamoru Kodate, Kenji Kondo, and Sakura Kaname are selected as candidates to pilot the Fafners. Concurrently, Kazuki and Yukie question the reasons behind their imprisonment. As a new Festum approaches, these new pilots are tested to defeat it. Mamoru devises a plan that ignores Soushi's specified orders. The three collaboratively succeed in defeating the Festum but are subsequently put in confinement for acting on their own judgment. Meanwhile, Soushi learns from Fumihiko that Kazuki denies himself daily, bypassing any assimilation. Maya realizes that Soushi has feelings for Kazuki. Michio brings Kazuki to the deck of the ship, where they also encounter Canon, before arriving at the Moldova base.
