During a winter afternoon in a dilapidated area of Tomobiki, Ten encounters Kotatsu-Neko, a silent, monolithic spirit resembling a cat that loves kotatsu. Ten decides to take the specter into the Moroboshi household. This decision leads to the obstruction of the stairway, which effectively barricades Ataru upstairs with an amorous Lum. Consequently, this situation incites a feud between the Moroboshi parents, creating domestic turmoil within the home due to the unexpected presence of the spirit.
