Jul 3, 2006At Tristain Academy in Halkeginia, Louise Vallière struggles with magic, earning the nickname Zero after a classroom explosion during a pebble-to-brass exercise. During the familiar summoning ritual, classmates Kirche and Guiche successfully call a fire salamander and a mole named Verdandi. Louise instead summons Saito Hiraga, an ordinary boy from Tokyo, Japan. Unable to reverse the summoning, she kisses him to form a contract, causing runes to appear on his left hand. A failed silence spell backfires, granting Saito the ability to speak and understand her language. He remains confused until he observes two moons in the sky, confirming his presence in a different world.
EP 2Saito Faces Guiche's Duel and Awakens Mysterious Rune Power
Jul 10, 2006Saito struggles with his new role as Louise's familiar, receiving only bread for breakfast while interacting with the kind maid Siesta. Displeased by noble arrogance, he mocks the two-timing student Guiche, who challenges him to a duel. Although Saito is severely beaten by Guiche's magic, he refuses to submit. Impressed by his spirit, Guiche offers a sword to level the odds. Upon grasping the weapon, runes on Saito's hand glow with energy, allowing him to defeat Guiche before collapsing from exhaustion. Mr. Colbert and Headmaster Osmond observe the event, suspecting that Saito might be a legendary familiar.

He learns the reason behind Louise's "Zero" nickname while navigating unwanted attention from Kirche, a noble from Germania who attempts to seduce him. Louise discovers this plan, leading to further tension. Seeking to address Saito's potential, Louise takes him to town to purchase a weapon. However, Kirche presents a superior sword as a gift, escalating the conflict between the couple. The situation becomes more complex when Louise's chosen blade reveals itself to be Derflinger, a sentient talking sword, adding another layer of complication to Saito's daily life.
EP 4Saito attempts to rescue Siesta from Count Mott using a family heirloom.
Jul 24, 2006Osmond harasses secretary Longueville while Siesta is taken by Count Mott. Disgusted by noble disregard for commoners, Saito tries to rescue her. A deal involves retrieving a family heirloom book from a Germanian family, coincidentally Kirche's. Saito asks Kirche for the book, but she demands he date her. After refusing, Saito attacks Count Mott with Kirche's sword, but his runes fail to activate. Louise and others arrive just in time to save Saito. Kirche agrees to give the book to Count Mott in exchange for Siesta's freedom and forgiveness. Saito discovers the treasure is an old April 1975 porn magazine from Japan. Upon returning to the academy, Siesta kisses Saito on the cheek to thank him for his efforts.
EP 5Louise and Henrietta's Childhood Bond During the Familiar Exhibition Crisis
Jul 31, 2006With the familiar exhibition imminent, Louise feels depressed because Saito lacks impressive skills. The event gains significance due to Princess Henrietta's attendance. Desperate, Saito fails to perform, but Henrietta visits Louise, revealing their childhood friendship. The next day, Saito’s weak sword demonstration ends with Louise dragging him off-stage. They then witness Fouquet using an earth golem to breach the school’s treasure vault. Louise attempts to stop her with magic, but her blast hits the tower wall, breaking the barrier. Tabitha and her dragon Sylphid arrive to help, but they are too late. Fouquet successfully steals the Staff of Destruction and escapes, leaving the group unable to prevent the theft.

Aug 7, 2006Louise, Kirche, and Tabitha pursue Fouquet to retrieve the Staff of Destruction. Saito joins them to rescue Louise from a golem attack. After his sword breaks, Saito uses Derflinger and his runes to damage the creature. Louise retrieves the staff, which Saito identifies as an M72 rocket launcher. He fires it to destroy the golem. Longueville reveals she is Fouquet and attempts to use the staff, but it fails as a single-use item. Saito defeats her. Osmond later explains that thirty years ago, a soldier from Earth used one of two staffs to save him. The school hosts a ball for the heroines. Louise thanks Saito and asks him to dance.

Aug 14, 2006Henrietta congratulates Louise for capturing Fouquet and asks her and Saito to go undercover in town to check if nobles exploit commoners. After losing all their funds at a casino, the pair takes jobs at the Charming Fairy Inn, run by Scarron and his daughter Jessica. Louise works as a waitress while Saito washes dishes, causing jealousy due to his proximity to Jessica. A contest awards the waitress with the most tips a reward and a special maid outfit. Louise struggles to earn tips due to her temper until an arrogant noble enters. She brings him to justice, and he leaves a large sum of money as a tip. This allows Louise to win the contest. Although they must leave, she wears the special maid outfit for Saito.
EP 8Tabitha's Secret: Summer Vacation Revelations and Romantic Mishaps
Aug 21, 2006During summer vacation, Kirche accompanies Tabitha to her home, leaving Louise and Saito alone. Kirche discovers Tabitha is actually Charlotte, Princess of Gallia, on a mission from her uncle, the King. Meanwhile, Montmorency creates a love potion after seeing Guiche flirt with other girls. Saito builds a hot tub from a discarded pot and is joined by Siesta, causing Louise frustration. She interrupts Guiche and Montmorency, drinking the potion-laced beverage. When Saito returns, a flustered Louise falls completely in love with him due to the potion's effects.
EP 9Louise's Affection Causes Trouble, Saito Seeks Antidote from Montmorency
Aug 28, 2006Louise's excessive affection toward Saito causes him distress and a misunderstanding with Siesta. Desperate, Saito forces Montmorency to brew an antidote by blackmailing her with knowledge that emotional potions are illegal. The remedy requires a water elemental's tear, leading the group to Lagdorian Lake. There, they encounter a Water Spirit flooding the land to find her stolen treasure while being harassed by intruders. Saito and Guiche fight off Kirche and Tabitha. Saito promises to recover the lost item, earning the Spirit's trust as Gandálfr. She provides the necessary tear, allowing Montmorency to create the antidote and resolve the situation.

Sep 4, 2006Louise and Saito receive a mission to recover an indiscreet letter Princess Henrietta wrote to Prince Wales of Albion, which is necessary to prevent the cancellation of her wedding to the Emperor of Germania. Since Albion is in civil war, the princess cannot meet the prince directly. Guiche overhears the request and volunteers to help, angering Louise and Saito. Before departing, Saito learns from Colbert about Gandálfr, legendary Void magic, and a dragon story. Their escort, Wardes, captain of the griffin squadron, joins them. He is revealed to be Louise's fiancé, causing Saito jealousy. During the journey to La Rochelle, Derflinger explains to Saito that only Gandálfr can wield him. At dinner, Wardes proposes to Louise and challenges Saito to a spar, winning easily and mocking Saito's vow to protect Louise, leaving him dejected.

Guiche and Saito are delayed by Fouquet and her golem, but Kirche and Tabitha rescue them on Sylphid. Saito deduces Wardes and Fouquet are collaborating and rushes to Albion, a floating continent. There, Louise meets Prince Wales, delivers Henrietta’s letter, and learns about the Reconquista noble uprising. Wardes reveals his allegiance to the group, threatening Wales. Cromwell forces Louise to consent to marriage using the Water Spirit’s ring mind control. Saito arrives via Verdandi’s scent, breaking the trance. Wardes kills Wales, steals the letter, and attacks Saito. Saito unlocks Gandálfr powers with Derflinger, defeating Wardes who flees while collapsing the church. Tabitha rescues them, and Saito kisses Louise as they return home.
EP 12Saito discovers a WWII plane in Talbes while Albion prepares to attack Tristain
Sep 18, 2006Louise reports Wales' death to Henrietta, cancelling the wedding, and warns Osmond about the Reconquista. Osmond explains Void magic and Gandálfr to her. Following an argument, Saito visits Siesta in Talbes, where Louise and others find a dragon heirloom. This dragon is actually an A6M Zero Fighter with a Japanese epitaph. Siesta's great-grandfather was transported to Halkeginia from Japan. Colbert notes two "dragons" flew during a solar eclipse, but one vanished. He suggests the second pilot missed the portal due to timing errors. Saito realizes the other pilot returned home and hopes to do the same. Meanwhile, Albion declares war on Tristain, planning to use it as a base for a continental conquest. They intend to launch their attack in three days, coinciding with the solar eclipse.

Sep 25, 2006Saito demands to return to Japan during the solar eclipse, angering Louise who is preparing for the inevitable war between Albion and Tristain. After Louise joins Princess Henrietta’s forces and leaves Saito a dismissive note, he pilots the Zero fighter to intercept Albion’s dragon squadrons at Talbes. Despite running out of ammunition and facing Wardes, Saito is rescued by Tabitha, Kirche, and Louise. Guided by Tabitha, Louise leaps onto the plane and, driven by emotion, unlocks her Void magic to cast Explosion, destroying the enemy force. Following the battle, Saito and Louise reconcile and renew their contract. Meanwhile, Guiche saves Kirche and Tabitha from Cromwell’s hypnotic Ring of Andavari. The group receives medals from Henrietta, but Louise’s excitement turns to jealousy when she sees Saito talking to Siesta, leading her to punish him with her new spell.
