Mizuiro (2003)

A brother and his sister-in-law live alone while their parents are frequently away. Yuki, the younger sister-in-law, has feelings for Kenji, the older brother. One night, a girl named Hiyori appears in Kenji’s room from a closet. She is transparent and appears to be a ghost. Hiyori was a childhood friend, and the two are happy to reunite, though confused by her unusual return. Yuki becomes distressed as Kenji and Hiyori grow close, triggering painful childhood memories. As a child, Yuki had intended to give Kenji’s light blue toy ring to Hiyori in exchange for her yoyo, but the deal never happened because Hiyori fell ill and moved away. The events of their childhood seem connected to Hiyori’s sudden reappearance. The story follows the emotional tensions between Kenji, Yuki, and Hiyori.
