A 17-year-old boy earns a living alone through his job as a professional Shogi player, though he struggles with emotional maturity and personal challenges. His strained connection with his adoptive family and difficulty relating to peers at school add to his difficulties, while his Shogi career faces a downturn, with inconsistent results and stalled advancement. He finds comfort in the company of three sisters, the Kawamotos, who treat him warmly in their home, offering him a sense of belonging he lacked elsewhere.
