Okita orders Masuya’s interrogation for harboring ronin to rebel against the Shogunate. Susumu, disguised as Ayumu, stabs Masuya unconscious to avenge her death. Hijikata tortures Masuya, learning he acted independently rather than following Yoshida’s orders. Meanwhile, Tetsu and Suzu walk to a forest cabin where Suzu attempts to kill him. Yoshida subdues Suzu, forces Tetsu into the cabin, and sets it on fire to kill him. Tatsu becomes overwhelmed upon realizing Tetsu is trapped inside the burning structure. The events highlight the complex loyalties and violent conflicts among the characters as they navigate their dangerous circumstances and personal vendettas.
