Tetsu demonstrates progress during sparring sessions with Heisuke, a development observed by Okita, who notes Tatsu’s deep concern for his younger brother. Meanwhile, Ryouma attempts to persuade Yoshida against initiating a rebellion against the Shogunate but is unsuccessful. Hotaru encounters an individual in the streets who bears a striking resemblance to Okita. Later, Tatsu collides with Ryouma, leading to a confrontation where they are surrounded by patrons. The pair manages to escape using a wheelbarrow, eventually reaching the riverbank. Unaware of the true identity of the person she conversed with earlier, Hotaru ponders the actual nature of Okita. That night, the lookalike, identified as Kichisaburo, kills the group of patrons, an act that satisfies his master, Seiga no Chujo.
