Oct 3, 2001Seven individuals travel to Tokyo, where Princess Hinoto reveals that six are the Dragons of Heaven destined to determine Earth's fate. The seventh, teenager Kamui Shirō, assaults Kyougo Monou, guardian of the Tokagushi Temple, to seize a sacred sword. The battle's result remains unclear, but Kyougo is found unharmed the next day while Kamui is ambushed by shikigami disguised as Men in Black. Kamui defeats them using psychic abilities and proceeds to school, where Kyougo’s daughter, Kotori Monou, identifies him as her childhood friend. She attempts to greet him, but Kamui warns her to stay away. Subsequently, Kamui compels Hinoto to cease using her powers to spy on him.

Oct 10, 2001Kotori remembers how Kamui changed after risking his life to save her from a fall. That night, Kamui assaults Daisuke Saiki, a wind magician spying on him to verify if he is the chosen one seen by Hinoto. Before Kamui can interrogate Saiki, Arashi Kishuu, a Dragon of Heaven, rescues him. Saiki is brought to Hinoto, who reveals a future dream of Kamui fighting in an apocalyptic Tokyo. Later, Sorata Arisugawa, another Dragon of Heaven attempting to contact Kamui, confronts spy Yuuto Kigai. Kotori's older brother, Fuuma Monou, accidentally enters Sorata's battle barrier, halting the fight. Fuuma discovers Kamui wounded from Saiki's attack and finds him unconscious at his home.

The following day, Kyougo recalls that the sacred sword originated from his late wife, Saya Monou, who died during its creation. Kamui contacts Kotori and Fuuma, warning the latter to stay away. Suddenly, Nataku, a teenager claiming to be a Dragon of Earth, attacks Kyougo and steals the sacred sword. Fuuma and Kotori hear the commotion and rush to Kyougo's side. Kamui chases Nataku but fails to stop him, as Sorata notes that the monks had also predicted this outcome.

Oct 24, 2001Hinoto dreams of two Kamuis fighting with sacred swords, troubling her and Kanoe, who allies with Yuuto. Scientists investigate the stolen sword while Kyougo remains unconscious in a hospital after Nataku's attack. Kamui confesses to Sorata that he sought the sword to protect Kyougo. His aunt Tokiko Magami then reveals that his mother, Touru Shirou, sacrificed herself to avert a disaster for Kamui using Magami clan abilities. As they depart, Sorata senses Arashi battling shikigami from the Dragons of Earth. Arashi defeats them with assistance from Seiichirou Aoki, the Dragon of Heaven, and agrees to guide Sorata and Kamui to Hinoto.
EP 5Yuzuriha Nekoi arrives in Tokyo to reveal her invisible inugami Inuki to the group.
Oct 31, 2001Dragon of Heaven Yuzuriha Nekoi travels to Tokyo, hoping that people can finally see her inugami, Inuki, which remains invisible to most. Arashi brings Kamui and Sorata to meet Hinoto, who shares a dream where Kamui leads the Dragons of Heaven to protect Earth from the opposing Dragons of Earth. The vision includes Hinoto’s sister, Kanoe, and reveals a hidden future where Kamui leads the Dragons of Earth. Upon waking, Kamui distrusts Hinoto because she withheld the sacred sword, which led to Kyougo being attacked by Nataku. Yuzuriha then introduces herself, pleased that the group can see Inuki. The group is subsequently attacked by an illusion created by an assassin from Sakurazuka. After the illusion is destroyed, Kamui departs from the group.
EP 6Kamui accompanies Kotori while Sorata confesses his love and faces Beast
Nov 7, 2001Kamui visits Kyougo but stays with Kotori after she collapses recalling her mother's death. The following day, Sorata and Arashi observe Kamui watching Fuuma's basketball game. During their discussion, Sorata reveals he has selected Arashi as the woman he would die for. He explains that a prophecy from Mount Kouya foretold he would support Kamui in Earth's battle but perish for a woman. Suddenly, Beast, a machine controlled by Satsuki Yatouji, attacks them with electrical wires. The pair destroys the wires, though Sorata is injured while shielding Arashi. Despite his wound, he expresses happiness, declaring her the most beautiful woman he has ever seen.

Nov 14, 2001Satsuki rides her bicycle after maintaining a connection to Beast to assist Kanoe. She is pursued by a black car, triggering memories of her childhood. As a primary school student, her father discovered her ability to communicate with computers and sent her to an organization seeking to exploit her. Although she disliked her treatment there, she appreciated learning she was one of the Dragons of the Earth. Satsuki hacked traffic lights to cause a fatal accident for her father. During her escape, Kanoe rescued her and offered better treatment. The flashback concludes as Satsuki faces organization members demanding her return. Yuuto kills most of them and returns Satsuki to Kanoe to share information obtained from Nataku.

Nov 21, 2001Yuuto remembers how Fuuma entered Sorata's barrier, attracting Kanoe. As his condition worsens, Kyougo tells Fuuma he is Kamui's twin star before dying. Kamui attends the funeral, where Dragon of Heaven Karen Kasumi delivers a message from Tokiko about obtaining another sacred sword. Kamui speaks with Kotori, but both are sent to a cliff by Sakurazuka assassin Seishirou Sakurazuka. Unable to face Seishirou while protecting Kotori, Kamui is saved by Fuuma, who breaks the illusion while trying to protect him. As Seishirou leaves, Kamui gives the unconscious Kotori to Fuuma and wonders if Fuuma is changing. Later, Kanoe enters Hinoto's dream, explaining that her dream of two Kamuis means two exist in reality, with the unmet one being Kamui's twin star who has yet to awaken.

Subaru confronts Seishirou, who acknowledges him as a Dragon of Heaven but vanishes as an illusion. Sorata and Arashi locate Subaru, but he ignores them to finish exorcising a resurrected person.

During Primary school, classmates called her a liar for claiming Inuki existed. To prove this, she took them to a waterfall only Inuki could find, but after a child was injured, they stopped and she was ignored again. Kusanagi tells her that her belief is what matters and promises to see her again. Aoki later invites Saiki and Yuzuriha to eat and agrees to join the Dragons of Heaven.

Dec 12, 2001Kotori shares a nightmare about Kamui and Fuuma fighting, prompting Fuuma to ask Kamui why he left Tokyo six years ago. Kamui reveals that after Saya died, his mother Touru took him to Okinawa, where he developed psychic powers. Touru taught him to use these abilities to protect loved ones, leading Kamui to wish to safeguard Kotori and Fuuma. Feeling isolated, Kamui watched Touru incinerate herself in a barrier, instructing him to return to Tokyo. Moved by this history, Fuuma secures a promise from Kamui to remain with them despite the risks. Subsequently, Kamui defeats shikigami attacking Tokiko at the temple. Tokiko declares she will die to birth another sacred sword in Touru’s place, causing her body to explode and leave the new blade coated in blood.
EP 12Kotori's trauma and Kamui's dragon choice lead to tragic confrontation
Dec 19, 2001Kotori experiences a mental shock upon seeing Tokiko's blood, recalling Saya's death. A Clamp Academy member transports her for treatment, citing a promise to Tokiko to protect her sacred sword. Inside a shared dream, Kotori meets Kakyou Kuzuki, who recalls a vision of Kamui and Fuuma fighting. Meanwhile, Kamui reads Tokiko's testament, which offers him a choice: become a Dragon of Heaven to protect humanity or a Dragon of Earth to destroy the Earth. Disregarding the fate of the world, Kamui decides his priority is solely the safety of Kotori and Fuuma. Enraged, Fuuma attacks Kamui, revealing that Kamui has unconsciously become the Dragon of Heaven destined to destroy mankind. Fuuma, now possessing psychic powers, destroys the building and kills Kotori. As Fuuma attempts to kill Kamui, Kakyou possesses Kotori's corpse to seize the sacred sword. Fuuma flees when Sorata, Arashi, and Subaru arrive, while Kotori vanishes from the dream, relieved that Kamui survived.

Jan 9, 2002Following Kotori's death, Kamui falls into a catatonic state. Fuuma convinces Kakyou to become a Dragon of Earth in exchange for his wish to die, then brings him to Kanoe's hideout. Meanwhile, Subaru uses a Sumeragi clan spell to connect with Kamui's mind, where he encounters a child-like version of the traumatized boy. Subaru warns Kamui that rejecting reality prevents him from achieving his goals, sharing his own past catatonia that led to Hokuto's death. Motivated by Subaru's experience, Kamui decides to help Fuuma recover his old self and successfully wakes up.

Following their recovery, the Dragons of Heaven pursue the Dragons of Earth. Hinoto warns Subaru that Seishirou plans to attack Tokyo's Rainbow Bridge, prompting Subaru to confront him alone. The two onmyouji engage in battle within Subaru's barrier, where Seishirou questions his opponent's desires. When Seishirou attempts to kill Subaru, Hokuto's dying spell reverses the attack, causing Subaru to impale his rival. Shocked by the outcome, Subaru reveals his true wish was to be killed by Seishirou. Seishirou dies without sharing a final secret, leaving Subaru catatonic. Yuzuriha is attacked by Nataku, and Aoki is opposed by Kusanagi when he attempts to help. As the Dragons of Earth gain the upper hand, Kamui and Sorata are petrified by Hinoto’s spell. Before Yuzuriha is killed, she confesses to Kusanagi that she always knew his identity but trusted him. To stop her other self, Hinoto commits suicide, freeing Kamui and Sorata. Sorata reaches Yuzuriha, who is saved by Kusanagi from Nataku. Arashi appears and cuts Kusanagi’s shoulder, shocking Sorata and Yuzuriha. Kamui finds the dying Hinoto, who apologizes for fearing the future she saw and requests Kamui to change destiny, noting his sacred sword will be unsealed with her death.
EP 23Arashi departs with Nataku as Sorata pursues Kamui to stop Arashi and dies protecting him.

Sorata realizes Arashi intends to kill Kamui to prevent his sacrifice and rushes to intervene. Kamui confronts Fuuma and Arashi, but Sorata stops Arashi. Sorata vows to kill Arashi if she attacks Kamui, yet neither can harm the other. Fuuma attempts to execute Arashi for betrayal, but Sorata intervenes and is impaled. Before dying, Sorata electrifies Fuuma’s body, forcing him to retreat to Nataku. Sorata’s final wish is for Arashi to live on, fulfilling his prophecy.
EP 24Kamui sacrifices himself to break Fuuma's curse and save Subaru from the Dragon of Earth's influence.
Mar 27, 2002Fuuma kills Nataku to regenerate his flesh, while Kakyou reveals the Dragon of Earth always wins regardless of Kamui's choice. Kamui travels to Tokyo Tower for the final confrontation, where Kakyou sends Hokuto's soul to Subaru. Hokuto tells Kamui he must protect what remains. During the battle, Fuuma breaks Kamui's sacred sword and impales him, but Subaru intercepts the killing blow and escapes with Kamui. Subaru urges Kamui to fulfill his wish before dying. Kamui returns to Fuuma, accepting another impalement to transfer his will. His body becomes a barrier that reverses the Dragons of Earth's damage, restoring Fuuma and saving Subaru. Kakyou notes Earth's destiny has changed and joins Hokuto.
