Hotaruko Nagao is an office worker who frequents a host club to unwind after stressful days. When she accumulates unpaid credit card debt, her coworkers discover her financial trouble. She is subsequently fired and barred from the host club. In response, Hotaruko makes an impulsive decision to leave her current life behind. The story follows her as she begins a new, slower-paced existence in a coastal town, seeking a more balanced and realistic way of living.
