Sobaya Genan

A dim lantern illuminates a temporary soba stall beneath a willow tree in the Shinbashi district of Oedo. Known as "Gen-an," the stall appears and vanishes like a fleeting dream. Gentaro Makino, once a hatamoto and accountant, left his prestigious post to retire early. He now dedicates himself to making soba noodles as a new pursuit in life. The narrative follows his journey as he engages in a friendly rivalry to perfect the craft of buckwheat noodle preparation.
