円舞曲は白いドレスで
At the start of the 20th century, tensions exist between England and Japan as the former seeks to expand its influence while the latter resists foreign intrusion. Koto, a Japanese woman, is drawn to the foreign culture and its innovations, especially fashion, and dreams of becoming a tailor who designs for women of all backgrounds. However, as a woman, her aspirations are limited, and she expects her life to change upon marriage. She is promised to Masaomi Kidoin, from a prominent Japanese family. After learning of her engagement, Koto attends a British Embassy ball where she meets Sagitto, a half-English, half-Indian spy. She is captivated by him, but their relationship faces obstacles as Sagitto is being hunted by both British and Japanese authorities, and Koto is expected to conform to a life that does not align with her desires.
