Atom and Dr. Ochanomizu visit the town of Bellanotte, where they encounter a robot circus. Atom notices a human boy named Reno among the performers, learning that Reno was an abandoned child raised by the robots. When Reno expresses fear of being separated from his robotic family if the truth is revealed, Atom promises to keep the secret. However, Gustav, the town's don and an enemy of robots, discovers Reno's secret. Gustav fabricates a story claiming the robots kidnapped the child and proceeds to hunt down the troupe with the intent to dismantle them.
