Braving a severe blizzard, Candy walks to the post office for shelter before continuing her journey. She meets Jimmy on horseback, who reveals a rude young man visited Pony's Home. Realizing Terry is there, Candy rushes back to find his still-warm teacup, indicating he recently departed for Pony's Hill. She chases him up the hill but arrives too late, accepting that their paths have diverged for now. Sister Mary worries about Candy's sudden return. The following morning, Candy playfully chases Jimmy after he throws a snowball at her, which leads her directly to a group of orphans who joyfully welcome her back home.
