Naoki observes Aichi interacting with Team SIT Genius and becomes curious about the card game Vanguard, noting the stark contrast between Aichi's school persona and his shop behavior. Aichi explains the game by playing a match, lending Naoki a new Narukami trial deck provided by Shin. As they play, Naoki grows increasingly engaged. Following Aichi's victory, Naoki purchases the deck and leaves abruptly, causing Aichi concern. Kai reassures him that Naoki has indeed developed an interest in the game. The following day at school, Aichi is surprised to learn that Kourin Tatsunagi from Ultra Rare is joining his class as a transfer student.

The defeat causes the team’s cheerleaders to abandon them. Naoki later learns Kongou accepted the student council’s budget bribe but primarily sought a strong opponent. The Cardfight Club remains determined to recruit a fifth member to secure official status before further council intervention.

At Team AL4 headquarters, Tetsu believes he is having a friendly cardfight with Kai, unaware that Kai is now Reversed.
