Kyo struggles to overcome his deep grief regarding the loss of Ryoko. Meanwhile, Lu Sheng discloses the origins of why humanity was stored within servers initially. In a parallel effort, Shizuno conducts a desperate search through the raw combat data of the Altair. During this search, she discovers that Ryoko's data has been compressed and hidden within the mecha's memory. This revelation connects the personal tragedy with the larger technological mystery surrounding human preservation and the combat records of the Altair unit.
