Mitsuki’s grandmother denies permission for her trip to America, despite Wakaoji’s assurance that a surgeon there can cure her cancer while preserving her voice. Through an old friend, Mitsuki discovers her grandmother’s history: she once loved piano but blamed music after her ex-fiancé abandoned her and her daughter, Mitsuki’s mother, ran away and died. Confronted with this tragic past, Mitsuki resolves to travel to America independently to seek the necessary medical treatment, overriding her grandmother’s objections.
