Furusato Saisei: Nippon no Mukashi Banashi

Japanese children, like those in many cultures, are raised hearing stories told by their elders. These tales include a boy emerging from a peach, a princess found in a bamboo stalk from the moon, and an elderly man capable of reviving a dead cherry tree. The stories offer lessons on life’s dual nature, passing down traditional values. Each episode of the series features three short, self-contained stories, some familiar and others less known. A number of them highlight heartwarming tales from Tohoku, a northern region affected by the 2011 earthquake. The program aims to bring comfort and hope to those impacted by the disaster.
