Ep. 44: The Last of the Four Kings
Ren joins Kaoru, Uryuu, and Kanou to monitor Lower Town, spotting The GetBackers before they depart to search. Meanwhile, Ban, Ginji, Himiko, Shido, and Kazuki find Makubex missing and meet Emishi and Juubei at a pharmacy. Emishi reveals Kanou’s attack and Masaki’s return to the Limitless Fortress, identifying him as the final king of The VOLTS. Kidnapped by Masaki in the Archive, Makubex learns of The Brain Trust’s role in the fortress’s creation. Masaki leaves him to hunt The GetBackers. The group splits; Himiko meets Kaoru in the Mayan Temple, while Kazuki and Juubei encounter Kanou and Uryuu in the Grand Canyon. Uryuu halts Kanou, but the fight continues until Kazuki and Juubei fall, exiting the virtual space. Shido battles Masaki until Teshimine intervenes, questioning Masaki’s return.
