Makubex is revealed as an illusion, prompting Masaki to ignore him in the Archive. Ban and Ginju depart Kaoru, hoping she aids Sakura’s recovery. Juubei and Uryuu clash until Kazuki stops them, recalling their past group’s dissolution due to Uryuu’s strength. Kazuki senses Ren watching. Ban fights Akabane while Ginji meets Masaki, who claims The Brain Trust sent him to observe Lower Town and betrayed Ginji after Teshimine’s departure. Gen enlists Ren and Paul for a plan. Believed to be equally matched, Ban defeats Akabane by citing Ginji’s inspiration to protect rather than hurt.
