While waiting for friends Sayo and Ieyasu, he learns of the wanted assassin group Night Raid. The group attacks Aria's manor, killing her parents and guards. Tatsumi fights Night Raid member Akame until Leone, the robber, intervenes. She reveals that Aria and her parents tortured villagers, including Sayo, who is already dead. Before Ieyasu succumbs to his injuries, Tatsumi kills Aria. Impressed by his ruthless efficiency, Leone invites Tatsumi to join Night Raid.

Jul 28, 2014Tatsumi learns of Zank the Executioner, a former dungeon executioner driven mad by killing innocents and now addicted to beheading victims. Zank wields Spectator, a powerful Imperial Arm strapped to his forehead that allows him to foresee opponent movements and project illusions of their loved ones. Night Raid is dispatched to eliminate him. During the mission, Tatsumi is separated by a vision of Sayo and severely injured by Zank’s foresight and mental attacks. Akame arrives to fight Zank, who attempts to distract her with an illusion of a past companion. Akame swiftly kills Zank, stating she must end the life of the one she loves most quickly. As he dies, Zank thanks Akame for silencing the voices of his victims that drove him insane. Akame then tends to Tatsumi’s wounds.
5EP 5Tatsumi trains with Sheele and encounters Seryu while seeking a resurrection Imperial Arm.
Aug 4, 2014Tatsumi wakes from a dream about Sayo and Ieyasu to find Sheele, who becomes his mentor for the day. After intense training, he learns of her past struggles and joins Night Raid, fostering mutual sympathy. He attempts to use Zank's Spectator, recovered from the previous episode, but it rejects him. Upon learning that collecting Imperial Arms is a top priority for Night Raid, Tatsumi declares his goal to find an Imperial Arm capable of resurrecting the dead, only to be devastated by the revelation that such an item cannot exist. Sheele comforts him at the graves of Sayo and Ieyasu. The following day, Tatsumi and Leone patrol a marketplace but become separated. Tatsumi is assisted by Seryu, an Imperial Guard member with a dog-like biological Imperial Arm named Coro, who guides him back before departing. It is revealed that Seryu’s mentor was Captain Ogre, and she seeks vengeance for his death.

She is devoured by Coro, recalling her time with Night Raid and feeling happy to be useful. Mine vows to avenge Sheele, while General Esdeath returns to the Capital at the prime minister's request.

Night Raid faces a new threat: Imperial Arms users led by Esdeath, who assassinate politicians opposing the prime minister to frame the rebels. Esdeath attempts to hunt a flying Danger Beast, but Syura’s teleport field appears. They return to the mountains, where Tatsumi flees using his Incursio. Suspecting they will be enemies next time, he realizes Esdeath cannot be convinced.
15EP 15Night Raid targets Path of Peace spy Borick while Jaegers pursue them in a canyon battle
Oct 13, 2014Najenda reveals her personal knowledge of Esdeath and assigns Night Raid to assassinate Borick, a spy drugging followers of the pacifist Path of Peace. The Revolutionary Army plans simultaneous attacks on the Capital, prompting Najenda to order the team to eliminate Jaegers Kurome and Bols. Akame doubts fighting Kurome, but Mine offers comfort. Esdeath divides the Jaegers, sending Wave, Kurome, and Bols to pursue Night Raid. In a canyon, Mine shoots at Kurome, who dodges, while Susanoo knocks Wave away. Night Raid confronts Kurome and Bols. Kurome summons her Imperial Arm, Yatsufusa, releasing eight puppets, including a giant Danger Beast, as Night Raid prepares for combat.

Mine and Leone scout tunnels, Najenda coordinates with spies, and Tatsumi and Lubbock meet a resistance contact. They are ambushed by Syura, who admits to manipulating Danger Beasts and teleporting Esdeath and Tatsumi. Commander-in-chief Budo fights Tatsumi while Lubbock battles Syura. Lubbock gains the advantage but is betrayed by a blackmailed resistance member. He drags Syura into an abyss using his Imperial Arms, killing him before they teleport back above the palace. Dec 8, 2014With only four members remaining, Night Raid initiates their final operation to assassinate the prime minister. Najenda commands the Revolutionary Army toward the capital, while Tatsumi, Akame, and Leone infiltrate the palace. They encounter Run, prompting Leone to stay behind for combat as the others advance to the throne room. The Emperor ignores their pleas and activates Shwarzentazer, an Ultimate Imperial Arm appearing as a massive armored giant. Witnessing the destruction inflicted upon his subjects, Tatsumi confronts the ruler, aided by Wave, while others assist in evacuating citizens. Tatsumi repeatedly strikes the armor at a single point, eventually destroying the Imperial Arm and defeating the Emperor after unlocking Incursio's true power. To prevent the giant from crushing the populace, Tatsumi uses his remaining strength to halt its fall. He dies from his grave wounds in Akame's arms, causing grief for both her and Esdeath.

Leone fights the prime minister, destroying his Imperial Arm and beating him to death despite her own fatal wounds. She visits old friends and dies alone. The Emperor is sentenced to death and asks Najenda to rule. Wave and Run honor Kurome’s grave and pledge to rebuild. Akame takes blame for Night Raid’s crimes, says goodbye to Najenda, and departs to unknown locations.
