As the group travels toward Violet City, they encounter a swarm of Heracross. Ash attempts to catch one but is reprimanded by a local expert for disturbing the insects. The expert explains that Heracross and Pinsir are engaged in a war caused by an unknown factor disrupting their tree sap flow. Despite the tension, a specific Heracross expresses a desire to join Ash. Consequently, Ash successfully captures this Heracross, adding it to his collection while the group continues their journey.
