Following Gary's victory over Team Rocket, Ash initiates a Pokémon battle featuring Pikachu against Eevee, but Gary emerges as the winner. Disheartened by the loss, Ash resolves to follow Gary to the Johto region to defeat him definitively. Meanwhile, Tracey chooses to remain in Pallet Town to serve as Professor Oak's assistant. The group dynamic shifts as Brock rejoins Ash and Tracey, and the trio departs together for the Johto region to continue their journey.
