Sonic and his companions launch a rocket toward the Space Colony ARK to prevent Dr. Eggman from annihilating the Earth. Upon infiltrating the facility, Sonic is captured and subsequently ejected into the vacuum of space. Before this occurs, Tails provides him with a fake Chaos Emerald, an item that he and Chuck had previously developed. This deception is intended to aid Sonic in his mission against the threat posed by Eggman, despite his current predicament outside the colony.
