263EP 263The Osaka Double Mystery Involving the Naniwa Swordsman and Toyotomi's Castle
Jan 7, 2002Heiji Hattori invites Conan Edogawa to a kendo tournament, but the investigation begins when a drunk man named Atsushi Tarumi is found dead in a storage room. The body is later discovered in the shower room, leading Heiji to reveal that Takashi Kategawa drugged Tarumi and used red paint to frame him for murder. Tarumi, believing he committed a crime, moved to the shower room wearing Tsuba Zeriai, where Kategawa killed him. Later, a man is set ablaze atop Osaka Castle. Heiji and Conan determine that Shigehiko Wakisaka, a tour guide, used self-destructing flashlights to commit the murders. Wakisaka confesses to killing the guides who murdered his grandfather thirteen years ago. Arihiro Kasuya admits to the past crime and attempts to kill Heiji before being apprehended by the police.
264EP 264fillerCourtroom Battle: Kisaki vs. Kogoro (Part 1)
Jan 14, 2002Eri Kisaki defends Shinji Usami, convicted of murdering Tsuyoshi Hirasawa while drunk. Her rival, prosecutor Reiko Kujo, highlights that Hirasawa pushed Shinji’s son Masaki to his death, providing motive. Evidence includes a metal pipe and Shinji’s car keys found at the scene. Although Shinji confesses, inconsistencies remain. Kogoro, present at a nearby bar, is questioned by Eri regarding Shinji’s alibi. Shinji’s estranged wife, Masako Kamedo, confirms Hirasawa visited her establishment and states Kogoro was awake. Kogoro admits he fell asleep but was woken by Kamedo for a call. The call timestamp proves Shinji was at the bar during the murder. In court, Reiko unexpectedly calls Kogoro to testify, confusing Eri and worrying Conan.
265EP 265fillerKisaki and Kogoro clash in court as Conan uncovers the truth behind the murder.
Jan 21, 2002Conan reveals that Reiko manipulated Eri’s past with Kogoro to use him as an ally. Kameda admits to altering Kogoro’s phone time, which destroyed Shinji’s alibi and secured Reiko’s victory. This prompts Kogoro to pursue his own investigation. Conan re-examines the Hiwasawa murder case and finds that a baby octopus was found in the victim’s stomach. During the second hearing, Conan tranquilizes Kogoro to present this evidence. Since the octopus is only served at Kameda’s bar, it places her near the crime scene. Conan explains that Kameda killed Hiwasawa with a metal pipe at the construction site. Shinji witnessed the act and left his keys there to incriminate himself. Kameda confesses, stating she sought revenge for her son. Afterward, Eri invites Kogoro to dinner, but he ignores her, distracted by another woman.
266EP 266The Truth Behind Valentine's Murder Investigation at the Hills Lodge
Jan 28, 2002Sonoko invites Ran, Conan, and Kogoro to a hillside lodge where chocolates are blessed for love. They meet owner Chiyoko Yuasa and guests: photographer Yoshitaka Nigaki, his girlfriend Ako Amari, Mika Konokawa, hunters Hajime Itakura and Yuzo Sakami, and Chiyoko’s dog Subaru. The women prepare chocolate gifts; Sonoko makes one for Makoto, while Ran leaves hers nameless. Nigaki leaves to take photos during a snowstorm but does not return. Conan and Subaru find him bludgeoned to death. Evidence includes a weapon near the body, blood wiped from his face, and Ako’s chocolate in his lap. Kogoro concludes the murder occurred in the afternoon, but Conan notes the killer repositioned Nigaki’s glasses. Conan is baffled by why the chocolate was left in the victim's lap.
267EP 267Investigating the murder of Nigaki amidst a snowstorm and chocolate evidence
Feb 4, 2002Kogoro examines Nigaki’s recorder and camera, finding only black and blood-stained photos. Conan deduces the murder occurred before the snowstorm, noting it is impossible to transport chocolate from the lodge to the corpse twenty minutes away. Itakura claims to have shot a suspicious person in a wool hat, raising fears it was Akai Shuichi. Mika suspects the man is Nattsuya, her boyfriend and Ako’s brother, who died in an avalanche four years ago. A mysterious figure is seen near the lodge. Subaro is revealed to have a twin named Jiro, and both received government awards for helping lost travelers. Conan analyzes the chocolates and identifies the killer.
268EP 268The Truth Behind Valentine's Resolution Reveals the Killer and the Avalanche Conspiracy
Feb 11, 2002Conan explains that Jiro, Subaro’s twin, brought chocolates to Nigaki’s corpse. The blood on the photo resulted from Nigaki cutting himself while chopping chocolate, not murder. Ako Amari is revealed as the killer because she alone could swap the film rolls. She confessed to killing Nigaki after he filmed her brother Nattsuya’s death in an avalanche without helping, though he was actually gathering evidence. Itakura and Sakami then betrayed the group, admitting they caused the avalanche to avoid blackmail from Nigaki. A suspicious man knocked out Itakura, and Sakami shot goggles off Makoto. Ran subdued Sakami. Makoto confronted Sonoko about missing Valentine's gifts until she revealed the chocolate was for him. Ran later woke to find her jacket and a photo from Detective Kid, who was Conan using Shinichi’s voice.
269EP 269Hideo Morita seeks help to find his late wife's lost watch, leading to a murder investigation.
Feb 18, 2002Hideo Morita asks Kogoro to locate his deceased wife's missing watch, but the Detective Boys and Dr. Agasa assist instead. They discover a room filled with movie tapes and equipment at Hideo's home. Neighbor Eiko Idetsuki arrives to demand repayment of a loan. After Hideo makes a partial payment and shows her a desired film tape, she enters the audio room. The children provide lunch and find the watch in the washing machine. A loud noise reveals Idetsuki dead, her skull crushed by a flower vase, as someone flees. Hideo has an alibi, yet Conan suspects his involvement. Meanwhile, Takagi informs Conan that police documents regarding Kogoro's cases were stolen and returned by mail, coinciding with the hijacked bus incident witness questioning. Conan suspects Professor Jodie, Dr. Araide, and Shuichi Akai.
270EP 270The Forgotten Memento from the Crime Part 2
Mar 4, 2002Conan deduces Idetsuki’s death was an internal murder, not an outside attack. He identifies flower scent from a microwave as the key clue. Using Agasa’s voice, Conan accuses Hideo of killing Idetsuki by rigging two VCRs. Hideo programmed a remote to eject tapes from both units. When Idetsuki retrieved her tape, the upper unit ejected its tape, toppling a vase that crushed her skull. Hideo had pre-broken the vase and hid the pieces among dishes. He disposed of the heated flowers in the trash. Idetsuki had driven Mrs. Morita into debt via stock investments, leading to her suicide. After solving the case, Conan rushes home, fearing Ran and Kogoro are kidnapped. He finds them safe but remains unaware that Shuichi Akai is secretly watching the agency.
271EP 271Ran struggles with a memory while Conan investigates a businessman's murder linked to an embezzlement case.
Mar 11, 2002Ran attempts to recall a mysterious man she believes she met previously, but Jodie interrupts her in class to ask about the meaning of X. Later, Jodie warns Ran and Conan about a serial groper. Conan observes businessman Norihisa Kisugi making a suspicious call to private detective Katsunori Chuujou, who demands quadruple payment for investigation documents regarding an unknown individual. Kisugi agrees and is subsequently killed by the individual during a blackout. He is found dead on an escalator with an envelope marked ○×△. Police interpret this as a dying message and trace the call to Kisugi, who reveals he hired Chuujou to find a company embezzler. The embezzler's identity is missing from Chuujou's envelope, narrowing the suspect list to thirty-one from fifty-eight. Conan identifies a blood trail and uses luminol to reveal a square symbol, completing the message as □○×△, noting the square is significantly larger than the other symbols.
272EP 272Conan reveals symbol meanings while police convict Kuniyoshi for murder and Ran contacts Shinichi.
Mar 18, 2002Conan guides Joseph Meguire to deduce that the symbols represent kanji outlines, noting that the square symbol is larger because it was not cut off, while the other three lack tops due to being written past the envelope edge. The culprit is identified as Bunta Kuniyoshi, who is convicted after Takagi reassembles shredded documents containing blood to reveal the missing portions of the circle, cross, and triangle, which spell out his name. Kuniyoshi confesses to the murder, claiming he sought a better life for his impoverished family. Meanwhile, Ran, having learned the meaning of the cross symbol, sends a message containing Xs to Shinichi. In a separate location, an unidentified Black Organization member sends a message with Xs to Gin, explaining that the symbol can denote feminine affection or hate, before throwing a dart at a picture of Shiho marked with an X.

275EP 275Uncovering the Haunted House Truth in the Second Part
Apr 22, 2002The narrative expands on the backgrounds of the three individuals excluding the elderly man, revealing one skeptic, a horror filmmaker, and a resident. Authorities inform them that two suspects fled the scene of a fire four years ago, with one already identified. Conan deciphers the mechanics behind the ghostly illusions. After incapacitating Mouri, he explains the deception to the group, exposing that the culprit is one of the two suspects and is currently concealing the other. This revelation connects the past crime to the current haunting events, clearing up the mystery surrounding the house.

Despite Conan’s hesitation, they visit her apartment, where they learn her full name is Jodie Saintemillion. As Jodie agrees to accompany them outside, a man living on the floor above falls to his death from over thirty stories away. Police initially rule the incident a suicide, but Conan and Heiji suspect foul play and begin their own investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fall.
278EP 278English Teacher and Great Western Detective Part Two Continues Investigation
May 20, 2002Heiji quickly dismisses the suicide theory by proving the victim tried to grab a curtain for survival. Conan and Heiji examine the crime scene to reveal that the room layout was manipulated. They also discuss Jodie’s identification with Jodie herself, noting her strange habits. After leaving, the two agree that Jodie is suspicious yet harmless.

While transferring trains in a crowded station, the man collapses with a knife wound to his stomach. Because the area was packed, the identity of the attacker remains unknown as no one witnessed the incident. Jun 17, 2002Mouri, Conan, and Ran run out of gas while driving in the mountains and are picked up by Majima, a furniture company president. His employees and residents appear to dislike him, which makes his discovery dead the next morning in a rock garden unsurprising.
