Colress demonstrates his newly upgraded technology by seizing control of a young trainer's Haxorus and subsequently Iris's Dragonite. As Ash and Charizard attempt to intervene and halt the machine's operation, N steps directly into the conflict. He believes that Pokémon should remain friends rather than engage in combat, placing himself in the line of fire to protect the creatures from being manipulated by Colress's experimental device.
