Jan 6, 1974Katse defies Sosai X to prioritize conquering Earth over destroying the Mantle Plan, earning the rank of President Z. X secretly mocks this title as a symbol of murder while Galactor attacks Mantle Plan institutions with a jellyfish mecha. The damaged God Phoenix is forced to land in the desert and explodes. While the ISO rebuilds the vehicle, the Science Ninja Team receives new defensive weapons, which Nambu clarifies are not for killing. When the jellyfish mecha targets ISO headquarters, the revived God Phoenix is deployed. The team defeats the enemy in a mountain region using individual mecha weapons and Super Bird Missiles. Despite the victory, Ken doubts that developing new weapons will ever bring true peace.
68EP 68The God Phoenix investigates a radioactive island and confronts the disguised Galactor agent Katse.
Jan 13, 1974The God Phoenix travels to a southern island following a nuclear explosion that destroyed ISO research planes. Although records indicate high radiation, the team finds no radioactivity or damage upon arrival, yet discovers molten human figures in a tram. Joe deduces a nuclear experiment occurred. Suddenly, building walls loosen and radiation spikes, forcing the crew to flee in the God Phoenix. They pass through a radiation belt without using fuel, causing them to lose consciousness from the shock. Upon waking on a research ship, they encounter Nambu, who orders them to return to base. Ken realizes the fuel discrepancy and attacks Nambu, exposing him as Katse in disguise. Galactor’s plan to infiltrate the base via the God Phoenix has failed. Katse escapes in a disc-shaped plane.
69EP 69The Science Ninja Team investigates disappearances in the Ohara desert tombs.
Jan 20, 1974Galactor infiltrates Shosken, a region dominated by the Ohara desert, after communications with an investigation team vanish in ancient tombs. The Science Ninja Team disperses among locals to search, where Jinpei encounters a woman mistaking him for her deceased son. He learns of missing villagers near the devil's cemetery and investigates alone, discovering a Galactor base extracting uranium from quicksand. The abducted citizens are forced into labor there. Jinpei alerts Ken and the others, who help corner Katse, but Galactor uses villagers as hostages to force their release. As Galactor attempts to drop the hostages into the quicksand, Ken’s boomerang triggers the base's self-destruct mechanism. Katse and his men escape while the team rescues the hostages. The grieving woman collapses crying, unable to see Jinpei, who later returns to the God Phoenix and weeps on Jun's chest.
70EP 70Mummified corpses prompt Nambu to order the Science Ninja Team to investigate the cause of the ongoing damage.
Jan 27, 1974Nambu orders the Science Ninja Team to investigate mummified corpses. Joe saves a girl from mannequin mechas and takes her to the hospital. Ken blames Joe for not contacting him and distrusts the girl. Joe sees the girl running away and follows her. Ken finds plastic from her bed and connects it to Joe's message about a puppet cemetery. The team searches for a mannequin dumping place. Jun and Ryu are captured by Maya, who controls the mannequins. Ken and Jinpei sneak into the base using Ryu's Birdscramble and save the others. They defeat the mannequins. Maya was allowed to leave Galactor if she succeeded in terminating the Science Ninja Team. Katse shoots Maya for failing and leaves, stating it is not possible to leave Galactor alive. The mask falls from Maya's face. She tells the Science Ninja Team about the self-destruction of the base and murmurs that she would have loved living under the sun, then she passes away.
71EP 71The Invincible Leader X

Galactor attacks the team with missiles and flamethrowers, but Ken’s tactics trigger an avalanche that damages the base. The God Phoenix breaches the facility, allowing the team to confront Katse. When Ken removes Katse’s mask, X appears in a flash of light, revealing himself as the ruler of Galactor. The team is blinded and loses consciousness, waking to find both leaders gone, leaving the existence of X and the Himalayan secret unresolved.
72EP 72A swarm of mini iron beasts attacks while Toda's research is ignored by authorities.
Feb 10, 1974Entomologist Toda in Amazonia observes strange locust behavior but faces dismissal from officials. Jinpei returns to the region after hearing the account, revealing that Galactor is manipulating the insects via a guiding radio signal. The swarm assaults Toda’s hut, prompting Jinpei to capture the lead mecha locust and identify the transmission frequency. Communication with Ken is blocked by interference, so Jinpei uses pesticide to spray a bird head shape in a meadow. This signal summons the God Phoenix, which joins Jinpei and Toda. Anticipating this, Katse accelerates his scheme by deploying mecha locusts toward global capitals. Ken utilizes the Phoenix to emit the same frequency, luring the swarms to the sea where they are destroyed by a rocket. Only Ken and his team recognize the crucial contribution of the overlooked scientist.

Jinpei finds Katse but is captured by the commando unit. Joe and Ryu discover Jinpei is about to be sacrificed near an ice-covered mammoth. They rescue him and corner Katse, who has disguised himself as a Shinto priest. Katse retreats into a mammoth mecha and attacks the team. The God Phoenix saves them, and Joe prepares to fire a rocket at the mecha but hesitates upon seeing deer below. Instead, they lure the mecha into the mountains and trigger an avalanche with a rocket, destroying it. The team mistakenly believes the nearby jungle traps indicate the location of the headquarters, which remains hidden in fog.

Nambu suggests analyzing it to find the transformation secret. Katse orders the shoe examined, revealing the electrical frequency that turns it into a white boot. X directs Dr. Mizuno to create a reversal weapon. Galactor recruits sixteen-year-old girls for a beauty center to find G-3. Jun applies despite knowing it is a trap. After other candidates are captured and sedated, Jun feigns sleep and sends a bird scramble signal. She is taken to the base and questioned by Katse. The God Phoenix arrives just in time. Jun rescues the girls, retrieves her shoe, and boards the mecha. Katse launches rockets, but Ken’s guidance system causes them to return, destroying the base and the enemy machine.

At an airfield, Demon photographs the team's faces using a hidden camera in his eyepatch and detonates a bomb, causing the team to lose confidence. The God Phoenix escorts another plane, guided by Ken to fly into the mecha's web. The G-4 uses a buzzsaw to cut the threads, allowing the Phoenix to reach the cockpit. The Phoenix hovers above as Joe aims the Condor Machine. Ken directs Joe to shoot the bullet through the one-centimeter vent, igniting the interior. Matangar clutches the Phoenix and moves toward the sea. Ken bets that the belly armor is thinner, ordering Jun to fire a rocket from the top dome.
