586EP 586The Kirin's Horn Vanished into Darkness
Sep 4, 2010Jirokichi Suzuki secures the key in the wall while waiting for Kaitou Kid. Kid triggers a blackout and explosives shatter the windows, allowing wind to enter the shrine. As the Detective Boys guard the pedestals, the center pillar opens. When power returns, the Kirin's horn is gone, Conan is tasered, and signed cards appear on the pedestals. Jirokichi explains the shrine is steel-reinforced, meaning Kid must be disguised inside. Suspects include Jirokichi, Ginzo Nakamori, or three reporters. Haibara analyzes a pillar message and realizes the pedestals represent the Four Symbols: Vermilion Bird, White Tiger, Black Tortoise, and Azure Dragon. She concludes that activating them in the correct sequence opens the center pillar.
587EP 587Conan uncovers Kid's disguise and motive while Detective Boys assist in the shrine puzzle.
Sep 11, 2010The Detective Boys realize Conan is feigning unconsciousness to deduce Kid's motive. They share blackout details, enabling Conan to identify Kid's disguise. Haibara explains to adults that Kid manipulated the boys into opening the center pillar by leaning on pedestals in seasonal order. She notes Nakamori requested this protection order, revealing him as Kid. Haibara proves no accomplice existed by finding cards on the boys' anoraks. Conan reveals Kid hid Kirin's horn in his own pocket to steal it as Nakamori. Kid shoots lights, creates a hole, and uses Genta as a plug to escape. Conan pursues outside, realizing Kid disguised as Genta. He re-enters the shrine, where Kid admits his goal was proving child disguise skills. Kid then disguises as an officer. Conan marks him with a card for police pursuit in the forest.

Conan presents evidence linking the towel's paint mark to the handrail and locating the rope in Inoue's home. Inoue confesses, stating Nakamura destroyed crops grown from her father's final harvest.

While police confirm Imura’s alibi of being in Guam, Conan deduces the true method: Imura used a cooler from a shrimp tank to manipulate the perceived time of death. Evidence includes wet glue on Nishida’s finger, dead shrimp, a contact lens in the tank, and nitrous acid reactions revealing gunpowder on Imura’s shirt and the cooler.
