Sayuri expresses dissatisfaction with Xiang Ying living with Ryo and the City Hunter business, threatening to take her to New York. Chen persuades her by highlighting the world-class medical facilities and the city's apparent role in the compatibility between Kaori's heart and Xiang Ying's body. Xiang Ying recounts Kaori's history, explaining that after her father died, she was befriended by Hideyuki Makimura, the son of her adoptive family. As the first City Hunter, Hideyuki was killed, leading Ryo to assume his protective role. Convinced, Sayuri decides to return to New York alone. On her final night in Japan, she shares a bed with Xiang Ying and experiences a dream-like vision of Kaori's early life.
