Atom begins attending school and forms friendships with classmates Kenichi, Tamao, and Shibugaki. He also meets Lightning, a mysterious robot capable of disappearing. The group strengthens their bond by sailing together. However, it is revealed that Lightning is a thief manipulated by the villain Skunk Kusai. Upon discovering this truth, Atom and his friends attempt to intervene and prevent Lightning from committing further malicious acts.
