Townspeople find her catatonic in the woods. Toshio diagnoses her with anemia from insect bites, but Megumi dies days later, shocking her family and friends.

Natsuno fights Tatsumi in town, and both fall into the pit where Natsuno detonates explosives, killing them. Sunako hides in a burning church until Seishin kills Atsushi's father to save her. Sunako wishes to die, but Seishin, now a jinrou, convinces her to live. They are the only surviving shiki. Ozaki questions the purpose of the village's self-destruction. Seishin drives a car away from the flames with a suitcase. Survivors, including Akira, Kaori, Kanami, Yasuyo, and Natsuno's father, board a bus leaving the ravaged area.
