Akino works at Hokkyoku Department Store, where the clientele consists entirely of animals, including several extinct species. Her role requires her to follow strict guidelines, such as never saying "no" to a customer. The store features high-end retail and showcases the artwork of Mr. Woolly, a mammoth and renowned sculptor. Akino struggles to manage the difficult demands of her clients, which include both unusual product requests and more personal issues. She must navigate these challenges while being closely watched by Mr. Toudou, the demanding floor manager, a consultant interested in reducing staff, and the store’s mysterious president, who is not a penguin.
