Since Bulma already has two balls, she invites Goku to join her adventure to borrow his strength and the item. They travel on a motorcycle, but Bulma is kidnapped by a giant flying dinosaur during a brief stop. Goku defeats the creature using his Power Pole and rescues her, continuing their journey together.

Mar 19, 1986Guided by the Dragon Radar, Goku and Bulma arrive at a remote village plagued by a shape-shifter named Oolong. An elderly resident possesses the Six-Star Ball and promises to hand it over if the duo drives Oolong away. Oolong desires to marry a local girl, prompting Goku to disguise himself as her to deceive the shifter. Upon discovering the ruse, Oolong becomes enraged and reverts to his original form to protect his identity before fleeing. Goku pursues him, eventually catching and defeating the creature. With the threat neutralized, the old woman rewards them with the Six-Star Ball.
EP 5Bulma's Group Encounters the Desert Bandit Yamcha and His Cat Puar

After their boat runs out of fuel, the group must trek across the desert, a region rumored to be inhabited by the dangerous bandit Yamcha. During their journey, Yamcha and his shape-shifting companion Puar launch an ambush. Goku engages Yamcha in combat, and although Yamcha employs the Wolf Fang Fist believing he has secured victory, Goku manages to rise. When Yamcha prepares to strike again, he spots Bulma. Overcome with nervousness around females, he panics and flees the scene immediately.
EP 6Oolong Uses a Camper While Yamcha and Puar Attempt to Steal the Dragon Balls
Apr 2, 1986Oolong recalls possessing a Dyno-Cap camper, allowing the group to spend the night inside. During this time, Goku shares information about the Dragon Balls with Oolong. Oolong then drugs the drinks of Goku and Bulma, causing them to fall asleep. Yamcha and Puar, who have been listening from outside the window, decide to steal the balls. Puar transforms into Goku to lure Oolong, who has transformed into Bulma, out of the camper. Yamcha sneaks inside but mistakenly uncovers Bulma's breasts, believing them to be the Dragon Balls. This discovery causes Yamcha to lose his composure. He retreats with Puar, who has flown away from Oolong, after the shape-shifting pig and cat reveal each other's true identities.

Apr 9, 1986Goku, Bulma, Oolong, Yamcha, and Puar reach Fire Mountain, where they meet the Ox King. The Ox King recognizes Goku’s Nimbus Cloud as a gift from Master Roshi and explains that his daughter Chi Chi vanished while trying to borrow the Bansho Fan to stop the mountain’s fires. He offers a Dragon Ball from his castle to anyone who retrieves Chi Chi and the fan. Goku quickly finds Chi Chi, but she accidentally grabs his tail to climb onto the Nimbus Cloud, causing him dizziness. Yamcha and Puar identify the tail as Goku’s weakness and plan to exploit it to steal Dragon Balls. After getting directions from a dolphin, Goku and Chi Chi travel to Master Roshi’s island.

Apr 16, 1986Master Roshi agrees to lend Goku the Bansho fan, but discards it after recalling he spilled juice on it. Consequently, Roshi attempts to extinguish the flames at Fire Mountain using his signature Kamehameha wave. While the technique successfully puts out the fire, it completely destroys the mountain. Bulma utilizes the Dragon Radar to locate the Seven-Star Ball within the rubble. Goku then asks Master Roshi if he can learn the Kamehameha, only to be disappointed by the revelation that it took the turtle hermit 50 years to master it. Despite this, Goku attempts the move and miraculously succeeds on his very first try.

Apr 23, 1986Goku, Bulma, and Oolong visit a city for fuel while Yamcha and Puar secretly follow. Bulma changes out of her bunny suit to blend in, but two henchmen harass the group. Goku defeats them, summoning Monster Carrot, a giant rabbit whose touch transforms victims into carrots. Bulma is accidentally turned into a carrot and captured. Puar transforms into a bird to rescue her, while Yamcha defeats the henchmen. Goku uses his Power Pole to defeat Monster Carrot, who restores Bulma. Goku then ties up the villains and extends his pole to the moon, forcing them to make treats for children.
EP 10Pilaf Steals Dragon Balls in Robot Attack, Trapping Group in Castle
Apr 30, 1986While traveling toward the final Dragon Ball, Shu attacks their vehicle with a rocket from a battle robot and steals Bulma’s suitcase containing the orbs. Goku attempts pursuit but fails to catch him. Because the Four-Star Ball remains with Goku, Pilaf cannot grant his wish for world domination. Bulma’s Dyno-Caps are also lost in the suitcase, leaving the group without transportation. Yamcha reluctantly provides a ride to Pilaf’s castle. Upon entering, the group encounters a dead end. Before they can retreat, a wall descends, effectively trapping them inside the facility.
EP 11Pilaf Traps Heroes in Chamber While Summoning Shenron for World Domination
May 7, 1986Pilaf uses sleeping gas to incapacitate the group, allowing Mai to steal Goku's Four-Star Ball. Upon waking, the heroes flee through the hallways as Pilaf chases them with giant pinballs. A sudden wall drop traps them in their previous room. Goku attempts to blast the wall with a Kamehameha wave, creating only a small exit hole. Through this opening, Pilaf begins summoning Shenron to grant his wish for world domination. Puar and Oolong transform into bats and fly through the hole to retrieve a Dragon Ball. However, they are intercepted by Shenron himself before they can reach the orbs.
EP 12Goku transforms into a Great Ape after looking at the full moon while Pilaf seeks revenge
May 14, 1986Oolong interrupts Emperor Pilaf’s wish for world domination by wishing for underwear, causing the Dragon Balls to scatter. Enraged, Pilaf orders Mai and Shu to execute Goku, Yamcha, and Bulma. The group is cornered by guard dogs but fights them off, reuniting with Oolong and Puar. They are captured and trapped in a glass room that heats up under the sun, threatening to burn them alive. As Goku and Yamcha fail to break the walls, Puar spots the full moon. Goku recalls his grandfather Gohan’s warning never to look at the moon, explaining that a monster killed Gohan, though Goku has no memory of this event. Goku accidentally looks at the moon and transforms into a Great Ape.

Shortly after, a young boy named Krillin arrives by boat and asks for training. Master Roshi accepts his request after Krillin offers a bribe. He then orders both Goku and Krillin to go to the city to find him another girl. In a separate location, Yamcha's ship has crashed. Consequently, Yamcha, Bulma, Puar, and Oolong are compelled to trek through the jungle and desert on foot.
EP 15Goku and Krillin Rescue a Girl Who Turns Violent After Sneezing
Jun 4, 1986Unable to ride the Nimbus Cloud, Krillin clings to Goku’s back while searching for a girl. They intervene when two men attack her, defeating the assailants and returning the girl to Master Roshi’s island. Unbeknownst to the boys, the girl was actually being arrested at the time. Her name is Launch, and she possesses a unique condition: whenever she sneezes, she transforms into a mean, aggressive, blonde criminal. Master Roshi, impressed by her, agrees to accept her as a student alongside Goku and Krillin. However, after sneezing, Launch pulls out a machine gun and opens fire on the three boys. Another sneeze restores her to her normal state, ending the sudden violence.

Roshi then reveals that daily milk delivery is only their morning warm-up, shocking the boys who realize they have much more training ahead. Meanwhile, Yamcha is also preparing for the upcoming tournament. The episode highlights the rigorous physical demands of their preparation and the boys' reaction to the extensive daily routine required before the competition.

Jun 25, 1986The boys continue their workout by plowing an entire field with their bare hands. After a quick breakfast, they head over to a construction site. Here, they dig holes and haul equipment. Their speed dazzles the foreman. They eat lunch and then take a nap. Goku is getting impatient, and wants to learn fighting moves, but Master Roshi says he will not teach them fighting moves until their bodies are in the proper condition. Their next task is to swim 10 laps on a lake while they're being chased by sharks. Then Master Roshi ties them to a tree and makes them dodge angry wasps. At the end of the day's training, Master Roshi tells them they will be doing the same thing every day for the next eight months, but with 50 lb. turtle shells on their backs.

As part of this regimen, he mandates that they wear 100 lb. turtle shells permanently. Months pass until the day before the tournament arrives. After completing check-in procedures, Yamcha, Bulma, Oolong, and Puar reunite with Goku. The following morning, Master Roshi provides Goku and Krillin with their official fighting uniforms for the upcoming competition.

Jul 23, 1986The second match starts with Yamcha attacking Jackie Chun, but the old man’s speed prevents any hits until he pushes Yamcha out of the ring using energy. The third match features Nam fighting Ranfan to earn prize money for his village’s water supply. Nam strikes Ranfan, causing her to cry, but the tears are a deception. She exploits his hesitation to attack, yet Nam defends easily. Ranfan then removes her clothes to distract him. Jackie Chun begins hooting loudly, and Yamcha identifies the sound as Master Roshi, realizing Jackie Chun is actually Roshi. Nam closes his eyes and defeats Ranfan.

Jul 30, 1986Rain postpones Goku's match, forcing a wait in a bar where opponent Giran creates disturbances. Yamcha warns that Giran cheats. When the fight starts, Giran tricks Goku, punches him, and uses flying Nimbus Cloud to return to bounds after being thrown out. He traps Goku with rock-hard gum and throws him out again, but Goku summons the Nimbus Cloud to save himself. Giran attempts to punch Goku, but Goku dodges as Giran's tail regrows. Empowered by his tail, Giran breaks free from the gum. Astonished by this strength, Giran forfeits the match.
EP 24Krillin's Frantic Attack!
Aug 6, 1986The first semifinal match begins between Krillin and Jackie Chun. Jackie Chun's speed proves too fast for Krillin to track. The announcer requests a slow-motion reenactment of the exchange. Jackie Chun attempted a kick, which Krillin dodged, followed by a punch that Jackie Chun countered by spitting. Krillin retaliated with his own spit. They then played janken as a distraction, allowing Jackie Chun to kick Krillin in the face. Krillin later distracted Jackie Chun with a pair of panties and kicked him out of the ring. Jackie Chun used a Kamehameha wave to return to the ring and employed the after-image technique to land a powerful kick, knocking Krillin out. Afterward, Yamcha attempted to remove Jackie Chun's wig, believing him to be Master Roshi, but failed. Despite suspicions, no one could prove Jackie Chun's true identity.
