Pikachu escapes and a chase begins as he attempts to retrieve the stolen case while Meowth tries to trap him using his own Poke Ball. Meowth challenges Pikachu to a battle, promising to return the items if he wins. However, Meowth attempts to double-cross him. Pikachu defeats Meowth with Iron Tail, causing Team Rocket to blast off. The heroes are freed and receive an official factory tour from the real managers as a thank you.

Jessie claims that Ash and his friends stole her Pikachu and proposes trading her Pumpkaboo to the Count if he helps retrieve it. The Count’s steward confronts the heroes but mistakenly captures Chespin, who is dressed as Pikachu, instead of the actual Pikachu wearing a Psyduck costume. Jessie agrees to the exchange at the castle. After the trade, her Pumpkaboo evolves into a Gourgeist, causing the Prince to lose interest. Jessie reclaims her Pokemon, Team Rocket is exposed and blasts off, and Clemont is reunited with Chespin.
